PACK THERAPY
Como Pet Lodge & Animal Works provides an innovative approach to canine care, offering largely outdoor, kennel free boarding, daycare, group play & Individual Behavior Therapy.

Inspired by a dog’s love for play & group learning, our unique philosophy is built upon the benefits of Pack Therapy.

Pack Therapy is rooted in the positive benefits of exposing canines to an environment more like the natural setting of their species.

Dogs are pack animals by nature & by definition, a pack is a social group that live together for survival. Pack structure is important & each member of the pack has a role & a unique bond with the others.
As humans domesticated canines, they depended less on their natural instincts & more on humans for survival. Left over, so to speak, is a subdued survival language that humans may never fully understand.

In our unique large outdoor pack-friendly environments, dogs must learn to socialize in a setting that encourages group-correction of undesirable behaviors, acceptable safe play & relaxation.

This promotes a mutually beneficial working bond with other dogs to strengthen the foundational understanding of what it means to be part of a cohesive pack!

Once acclimated within pack, a dog is freer to safely release pent up energy, unworked aggression & breed specific behaviors such as herding & guarding through pack play.
As social creatures, the accepting nature of a pack naturally helps dogs work through anxiety, depression, stranger danger, social development, past trauma from abuse or neglect & more.

Think of it as group therapy for canines!

Donations are always needed to assist with the Crew’s Medical Care
It costs around $30,000 a year to care for our Pack Therapy Canines!

Como has grown beyond the initial needs of post-COVID & exists to help dogs overcome ingrained negative behaviors through our unique Pack Therapy techniques.
This cannot be successful without a trusted, reliable & healthy pack.
Our Como Crew consist of dogs that are vetted, trusted & dependable leaders serving as ambassadors in acclimating new dogs.
They live on property & are cared for by the founders & staff.
The Como Crew is critical in the successful execution of Pack Therapy with dogs that come in for boarding, daycare, or our Shelter Bypass Program.
Monetary donations are always needed to assist with the Crew’s Medical Care!

BONES - King of the Jungle
Bones was the first working dog at Como and is the inspiration for our logo. A brother and sister, who was already a Como Customer, adopted sibling dogs. The brother decided he couldn’t manage a puppy, so Bones came to Como in his very early stages of development. He was raised at Como as a working dog establishing the success of Pack Therapy and therefore is The King of the Jungle that he helped create.

ELON - The Deputy
Elon was surrendered to PACC as a puppy and Como was looking for a third dog to join the Crew as a Pack Therapy working dog. Como had yet to raise a dog in the Pack Therapy Model. His breed, a Malinois mix, and his confident yet gentle demeanor and young age is exactly what Tim was looking for.
Elon is a goofy love, awkward and clumsy, and always brings a smile with his comedic antics. At three years old, Como staff think he is still growing!
Elon is a very well rounded dogs and is most frequently used at the dog for Meet & Greets and helping high energy, anxious dogs work through the decompression phases.

As Como began to grow, we realized that we needed to increase the number of working dogs to effectively execute pack therapy and build a stable pack. After searching over 100 dogs on Craigslist, King caught Tim’s eye. King was raised from a puppy in a college household and by a year and a half, it was too much to manage. So King “auditioned” and became our first official Como Crew Recruit. King is a confident canine and gives quick and appropriate corrections. He is the most consistent in assessing and analyzing a complex situation to give correction without human intervention. He is our “go to” when working with and helping decode dogs, especially those that are under socialized and insecure. He earned the title of The Sheriff because he helps build trust within the pack and he can quickly assess and determine the best course of correction in the moment, all essential qualities of a "dawg-law" enforcement leader.
